Feast of Seven Fishes (Italian) Cooking Class
December 18, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$80Feast of Seven Fishes is an Italian and Italian American tradition celebrated on Christmas Eve. A time to bring the family together and eat seven pescatarian dishes the ancient custom of eating fish on Christmas Eve dates back to the Roman Catholic tradition of abstinence from meat and dairy products on the eve of certain holidays, including Christmas. The number seven is grounded in ancient times and it can be associated with multiple Catholic symbols: seven are the sacraments, the days of the Creation, as well as the deadly sins. Consequently, there are seven courses! Some of the dishes we will make include Fennel Salad with Bread Crumbs, Walnuts and Anchovy Vinaigrette, Scallop Crudo with Tangerine, Cod Fritters with Spicy Tomato Sauce, Spaghetti with Clams and Green Olives, and Tiramisu. This holiday season, look to Feast of Seven Fishes and Italian traditions to rejuvenate your holiday menu. The cost of the class includes the price of the lesson, the cost of food/lunch, recipe book, and edible holiday gift. Students are welcome to BYOB if they feel so inclined. Students will not only learn kitchen techniques and delicious recipes to take home with them but will also learn some wonderful tricks that make for throwing a successful dinner party!
